June 1, 2005 at 4:27 pmSeems like HDV renders out a lot faster. I rendered a 4 min. test sequence with a couple of effects in 4:30. FCP didn’t crash as much in my hour or two of testing, either.

June 1, 2005 at 7:11 pmIs Quick Time Pro automatically installed when you install Final Cut Pro? I have FCP4.5, installed as an upgrade from 3 My QT player says it is 7.0. Thanks. -Rob

Installing FCP5 automatically updates QT7 to Pro. Upgrading to 7.0.1 will not require another key.
BTW to all of you who are sick of my bitching about how well Tiger and FCP5 don’t work, I seem to have traced my problems to an SCSI drive going bad. On a whim I moved the project over to my backup drives and voila! It all seems to work as advertised.
Huge is looking at the suspect drive this week.

June 1, 2005 at 8:24 pmThat’s weird. Unplugging our FW800 raid solved all our problems
as well. There are still some weird things happening with our
gigabit network though.-will

Well, my backup drive IS a FW800 RAID! Seems solid so far on new and old projects. Been testing since late this morning, seems solid. One older project caused FCP to quit on a 5 minute render, repeatedly. Seemed okay on new projects tho.

“Hi Rob,
QT Pro 6 is installed when you install FCP 4.x (assuming you enter the key). If you upgraded that to QT 7 you will lose the Pro features. You can either reinstall QT6, pay the QT Pro fee for QT7 or install FCP5.
Best Wishes,
Mitch
