Value Added Reseller. Promax is one, they will always take caree of you.
FWIW I have a Panny DVX100 and a Sony DSR 11 deck and a JVC BR600 and the tapes from the Panny work just fine with both of them.

Try using the time filter in Joe’s Plugins. Or get Twixtor of Boris Continuum Complete.

Excuse the ignorance but I have no idea wht VOIP is or how Skype could send a movie. Can you elaborate a bit? Incidentally, I think it was you asking about PanZoom Pro, did you try it out?

Yikes! 1800? The only easy way to do this that I know of is in After Effects using the sequence layers command. You can tell it to set up a cross dissolve on each layer. You’d still have to make multiple comps though as I believe it’s limited to 99 layers, but I could be wrong on that. I would do it in comps of 50 – 75 or so layers just to keep my sanity. Then the resulting movies could easily be linked together in the FCP timeline.
I don’t know of any way to automate the process like this in FCP.
Another thought though is if you’re making a DVD you could do a slideshow in DVDSP.

What kind of 3D animation would you want to do? If you just want to do 3D text or extrude a logo then the easiest and best looking route would be Zaxwerks 3D invigorator for After Effects. If you wnat to do character animation or complex objects, Cinema 4D or Maya or many others.
If you have FCP, there are a ton of cool 3rd party plugins the help you animate in the NLE, from Boris, Eureka!, etc. and Kevin Monihan’s book Motion Graphics and Effects in FCP is a great way to get started.
