DVmattePro will give you much better results than the standard keyer. It’s amazing. I understand they are releasing a new version soon as well. And they recently released DVmatte Blast for Motion which I have heard good things about.

I tested MP against PanZoomPro, and the latter is by far superior. At least to my work style.

Also, option double click will open it in the viewer.

There is a plugin called PanZoomPro at lyric.com which will make your Ken Burns work about 5 times faster and WAAAY smoother WITH NO KEYFRAMES!!! Plus it has an on-board flicker filter.
It is absolutely the best way to go, much better than Moving Picture.

I’m doing SD projects off a Firewire 800 RAID, and it works great, so SATA will be plenty fast enough. Do yourself a favor and check them out on Promax’s Web site.

I am anticipating more storage soon, and I am considering a SATA RAID. It’s cheaper, plenty fast for what you’re doing, and there are some models at Promax which can be configured in RAID 3 to protect data should a unit fail. They have some FireWire 800 RAIDS with removable drives which I have two of and they work great too.

That image is too big. reduce it to say half at 72 dpi and it will help the flickering. The gaussian blur thing will help too. Also, PanzoomPro from Lyric is a great pic in pic tool, and it has built in flicker removal.

I don’t think one or the other make much difference, other than your ability with each user interface. Although, even with FCP5’s improved scaling, AE still probably does a better job with sub-pixel rendering. I seem to get better mattes, for instance, using DVmatte Pro in AE rather than FCP.
But again, darn good question. Maybe some tech-head will chime in.
