This is one of the most-asked questions here, you need to optimize the photos in Photoshop, they should be no more than twice your frame size at 72 DPI and save as tif or targa. It’s true that FCP only sees pixels not DPI, but FCP chokes on large high rez pictures.

You still may need to add a bit of blur to them or try the flicker filter or both.

Well yes, Mike’s suggestion will work, but it is very difficult to do as well as a real glint filter, it needs some glow added to it to make it look right and it must be superbly crafted in Photoshop. Otherwise it will look like a Pepsident commercial from the 50’s.

Hi Kathryn,

Your sequence is DVC Pro 50? Try setting the compressor to ProRes and render. Also, you must see this on a proper monitor on your system to judge the quality, or at least in the canvas set to exactly 100%.

There’s are glint filters in FX Factory and in Boris Continuum Complete, and there are others, but I don’t think one comes with FCP.

Nattress Big Box of Tricks has a nice lens flare, mabey that would work and it’s cheap.

Would it be simplest to convert the video to a compressed format that FCP can handle comfortably, upload to a secure server and the editor download to MBP.
If it’s just for the web, yes, it can be downconverted to DV on capture.

Then as the edit progresses, can the project file be emailed to the main editor for checking etc, since if they have the identical originals, it’s a matter of reconnecting media.

I would work on-line if you use DV. Put it in a ProRes timeline to preserve the quality of graphics.

Or maybe, if the final product goes to web, is there a suitable codec that can be edited down and uploaded ready for the web site?

H264 or SWF, for the latter you’d need one of the conversion apps like Video2Web or Flash.
