I’m sorry to hear things are no better. I would suggest putting the card in the slot furthest away from other PCIe cards. It will therefore be less likely to be sharing resources with another device, which is quite possibly what the problem is, but I couldn’t be absolutely sure of this.
You may also be able to change the slot configuration in the computer’s BIOS. Sometimes not all slots are being provided with their full possible bandwidth. If the problem still occurs please do try other slots too. If that fails I think it will be best to phone support.

June 22, 2012 at 1:34 am in reply to: will 50 frame recording be possible with the HyperDeck Shuttle 2Hi Pekin,
I’m afraid that the HyperDeck Shuttle does not support 1080p50/60 formats. The highest frame rate possible is 1080p30.

Hi Ninetto,
When this problem occurs, please check to see if you still see the device listed in Windows Device Manager under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. If not, it would suggest that the system itself is not detecting the hardware. If this is the case I think it’s likely there’s a conflict somewhere in the system. In the past I have seen similar problems where the DeckLink card in a slot that shares a PCIe bus with another device, such as the graphics card. I would suggest trying the DeckLink card in different PCIe slots if possible. But if this does not help, please do contact your regional support team, either using the numbers on the following page

Or using the support request form from the product’s section in the support pages here

Hi Edward,
It would sound like the FCPX trial is maybe either based around an earlier version that did not have third party hardware support, or these features are just simply not available in the trial version. If there is an option to update the trial I would suggest trying to do so.
But certainly in the full version with the latest updates you would have these options.

June 21, 2012 at 12:36 am in reply to: Decklink Studio 2 & FCP7 – No 1080p/29.97 Playback OptionHi Jason,
I’m afraid it’s not possible to output 1080p29.97 from Final Cut Pro 7. FCP7 uses generic Quicktime support to output, which predates this format being added to our cards. More recent applications whose support was developed using our API, such as Premiere Pro CS6, Media Composer 6 or FCPX are able to access the 1080p25/29.97/30 output settings.
The best way to output from FCP7 in this case is to use the 1080i59.94 output setting with a progressive timeline. I understand that this is not perfect, but it is the only workaround I am aware of.

Daniel,
I think more and more TVs are supporting 1080p23.98 and 24 now because of the rise of things like Blu-Ray where the native format is 1080p24. 25, 29.97 and 30 are still not terribly widespread so we still see a lot of TVs not supporting these formats.
I’ve had a look through the sequence settings in Premiere Pro, but don’t see anything that’s going to work perfectly. I think the closest you’ll get are the DVCProHD and Digital SLR sequence settings. Certainly you can drop your 1080p30 footage onto virtually any timeline, such as 1080i60, and you should get an output, but I don’t know to what extent this is going to affect the edit.

Hi Daniel,
I’ve just performed a quick couple of tests here for you. Premiere Pro CS6 is definitely capable of outputting 1080p30 via Blackmagic devices. I have just tested with a Decklink HD Extreme, and indeed I can get 1080p30 out via SDI using the Blackmagic Uncompressed and Digital SLR sequences.
The Intensity Extreme should therefore also be outputting 1080p30 correctly from these sequences too, but I’m afraid I cannot fully test this right now because none of our TVs or monitors we have in this office support 1080p25/29.97/30. In fact more often than not in cases of these formats not working, the problem is the monitor not supporting them since these are not common formats. I would check the monitor’s specifications or with the manufacturer to see whether it does have support for these formats.
Final Cut Pro 7 however could not output 1080p30, but it was possible to workaround this using 1080i60 output.

June 19, 2012 at 12:19 am in reply to: Lookup tables in Intensity Extreme or Ultra Studio Express?Hi Mike,
The output Lookup Tables option you are seeing in the preferences is used only with the DeckLink HD Extreme 2. This Lookup Table feature is not built into any of the current range of capture devices. I’m afraid that I can not think of any other way you would be able to apply Lookup Tables for output from all applications without using external hardware such as the HDLink Pro.

Hi Randy,
The most common reason for a signal not working on port 3 or 4 on the Television Studio is having it set to the wrong connection in the settings tab of the ATEM software control panel. It seems that you’ve tried both connections, so I can’t imagine this is the problem, but I would check again to be sure. It seems more likely there could be a problem with the unit, but I would suggest calling support in your region to see if there’s anything further that could be a problem.
You can find the support numbers for each region on the following page:

Hi Aaron,
I am sorry about your experience with support. I don’t know how long it has been since you tried contacting support, but it’s not always possible to get back to emails and voicemail straight away. However the technical support numbers for each region can be found on the following page
https://www.blackmagic-design.com/company/
If you are calling within office hours (typically 9:00-5:00) you should usually get straight through to a support representative.
On the problem you are having however, it sounds to me to be likely a hardware compatibility issue. I’m not aware of any issues specific to 64bit Windows, in fact we would suggest using 64bit over 32. The problem could be solved by something as simple as changing a BIOS setting, but it’s also possible the motherboard could just be incompatible.
Whilst I don’t think I’ve come across a BSOD whilst updating the firmware before, I would certainly suggest checking things like PCI Express Power Saving in the Advanced Power Saving options. You can access this through Control Panel->Power Options, choosing to edit your current power plan, and then selecting the advanced power options. Certainly a similar issue from some time ago where the firmware update did not take was sometimes resolved by turning PCI Express power saving off.
Otherwise it may be that changing a BIOS setting specific to the PCI Express slots could help, but it’s very difficult for me to suggest what options could make any difference since motherboards are all different.
I would of course also make sure to try the card in different PCI Express slots to see if the problem occurs only in specific slots or all of them. if you still get nowhere with this, please do try your regional support office again using the numbers above. Depending on the region you are in you may also be able to get support from your reseller or distributor.
