Thanks Nick. I can’t believe how many problems end with the line, “it’s a quicktime thing.”

Writing out of Nuke with 709 node is going to limit your grading range in Resolve. We’ve had issues with Nuke and QuickTime as well. DPX or Tifs better options. DPX if you need to preserve timecode.

    Hey John,

What about keeping your timeline set to 1920×1080 with config set to scale image to fit monitor to grade. Then when it is time to render set timeline back to 3840×2160 and render out as 3840×2160. Since you’re still at same aspect for you should be WYSIWYG on that front.

The best purpose I’ve found for Resolve’s NR is to use it in an hsl key for skin softening on beauty work. 9 times outta 10 I like the noisy image more than the Resolve NR image.

    Hey Dan,

Does v9 trim down the physical R3D file itself or is it doing a virtual trim within the media pool? If it’s actually able to moe just the R3D select then using an EDL to add R3D files into media pool and then copy locally sounds like the way to go.

    Can’t wait for 9!

    Cheers, Chris

Our engineers have been testing using FFMPEG open source to write out prores codecs. Not quite as easy as having it on the export but so far no shifts which is more than you can say about using quicktime…

And yes I have compared the edl in conform window and it matches – I have used the parse function to trim off the “-001.R3D” and they match.
