June 17, 2012 at 4:32 amYou mean as in truncating the clips to just the used bits? You need to use redcine-x, it’s the only app able to export r3d files. But you’re probably better off keeping the r3d media on your clients drive… and then rendering out just the used bits to DPX or delivery format of choice.

June 17, 2012 at 3:38 pmWell its dead simple, you load the .edl , all your clips available and assemble them.
Then you export the clips on the timeline with the amount of handles into a new folder…
I always do that to keep my working directory as light as possible.
Crucial for remote grading too.A slice of color…

We would love to correct mistakes and help developing , but personally, I learn more if I discover things first by digging into it.A slice of color…

June 20, 2012 at 6:49 pmHey Dan,
Does v9 trim down the physical R3D file itself or is it doing a virtual trim within the media pool? If it’s actually able to moe just the R3D select then using an EDL to add R3D files into media pool and then copy locally sounds like the way to go.
Can’t wait for 9!
Cheers, Chris

June 21, 2012 at 2:08 amIt’s making a physical copy of the Red file – just the extents used in your edit, plus handles if you want them. It’s a fairly fast process since it’s working on the Red compressed data directly.
