One thing I’ve noticed is that my .MXF files aren’t always in the same order that I shot them. I shoot on a Panasonic AG-HVX200 and the letters of the file naming at the beginning of the clip are often not in any type of order at all. Is there a way to program what you want the files to be named as in the camera? Has anyone else had this problem?

  • Yes, the audio track is empty. It seems as though the audio is embedded in the video track.

It’s a .MXF file that came off of a Panasonic P2 camera. I imported the file out of the video folder that was on the P2 camera.

Nevermind….I’m retarded….I didn’t scroll down enough on the audio tracks to see the audio from my video clip. It is there.

  • I understand when you actually bring in an audio file to the timeline. But my problem/question is that I have a video clip that has audio with it. When I bring that clip into the timeline, Premiere groups the two together and puts it all on the video track. How do I separate the audio and video so that I can see my audio on an audio track and ultimately see the waveform like Ann showed above?

I haven’t edited in Premiere Pro very much (I normally use Vegas), but I have noticed over the years that sometimes if an image has a very high resolution, it will cause flickering. A lot of pictures that I get from graphic designers are high in resolution because they are using them for print, but it creates havoc in video. If you have a lot of photos, it will probably be a pain to decrease the resolution on everything, but it is an option.

I didn’t see it, but if someone knows where to look or if I can add a plug-in to V6, please let me know.

  • From your description of your setup, there is no reason to go through the video switcher. If you had some requirement for “audio-follow-video” then the answer might be different.

What do you mean by audio-follow-video? Yes, I do want my audio to be synced with my video. I may also have an announcer on the side doing play by play commentary. If I don’t go through the video switcher, will there be any “lag” time or will the sync be off?

    Thanks!
