  • How do you see audio wave form when you add video to sequence

Posted by Chris Franklin on February 23, 2011 at 9:47 pm

    Hello,

I’m fairly new to Premiere and I have a video clip of an interview that I shot. I’m able to import the clip into my project and I’m able to add the video to the sequence with the audio. My problem is that the audio is embedded somewhere in the video clip and I can’t see the audio waveform on my timeline. Does Premiere give you that option? How can I see the waveform so that I can edit just the audio clip?

    Thanks!

Expand the audio track like this:

I understand when you actually bring in an audio file to the timeline. But my problem/question is that I have a video clip that has audio with it. When I bring that clip into the timeline, Premiere groups the two together and puts it all on the video track. How do I separate the audio and video so that I can see my audio on an audio track and ultimately see the waveform like Ann showed above?

You mean to say the audio track is empty?
Does the clip have audio in the source monitor
What kind of clip is it, i mean the source.

Yes, the audio track is empty. It seems as though the audio is embedded in the video track.

It’s a .MXF file that came off of a Panasonic P2 camera. I imported the file out of the video folder that was on the P2 camera.

Nevermind….I’m retarded….I didn’t scroll down enough on the audio tracks to see the audio from my video clip. It is there.
