29.97 is referred to as 59.94 fields.

I do a lot of this stuff and have submitted to Charter before.

for 1080 they all want interlaced upper field first, unless it’s 720P…then it has to be progressive and 59.94 fps.

Just change the progressive to upper field first then look at it when it’s done.

Did you make sure the titles were all in a 4×3 title safe zone, so when it
airs on an SD channel it doesn’t cut the text off?

Some of my clients have sent them HD safe then have to redo them
so the station won’t reject them or do the nasty “postage stamp”
airing with black bars surrounding the tv spot.

Increasing the target bitrate is overkill.

That vimeo HD preset works great, make sure it is 2-pass vbr
and check the “maximum quality” button.

You might consider using the 720P preset as this will be
a much smaller file size with the difference in real world
visual quality being negligible if barely noticed than 1080.
Also 720P plays smoother on a lot more systems that may
be older.

if you feel 5mbps is not enough, take it to 10mbps, but
anything more is over kill and I’ve done tons of these
over the years. You can also reduce the file by changing audio from
48khz to 32khz with no noticeable quality loss.

2) exfat would work on a pc and mac, but most blu-ray players
including the ps3 only read fat32 volumes. Authored DVD or Blu-Ray
discs are probably more practical here.

3) I don’t believe its possible to embed chapters in .mp4 files.

If he’s making a blu-ray shouldn’t it be “mpeg-2 Blu-Ray” preset?

also Jack, as an option TMPGenc authoring works supports creating
a blu-ray from .mts files without re-encoding them. They have a 30 day fully functional demo last I checked.

it could be as easy as importing the files and hitting the go button without
any re-encoding.

I’ve used it a few times and it worked well.

If you want a lossless master file to do other things with later,
then yes ProRes is a good choice.

that’s right, encore cs 6 added the ability to have DTSHD-MA as source audio.

Robert, try using black only video, you could probably set
the bitrate on the video extremely low since there is nothing
that will look bad if it’s just black.

I’m fairly certain the DV vs HDV setting has no consequence.
It has to do with the capture module premiere would use if you
needed to capture one or the other.
