[Boyce Johnson] ” So there’s no difference between CS6 and CC for Windows”

I would think there is a MASSIVE difference.

There certainly is in the mac version.
    more features
    less buggyness etc..

Things just work better in CC.

2009 octo-core mac here with 16 GB ram and the Quadro 4000
    with a fiber channel Raid.

Ya CC works great! The Quadro/CUDA makes a BIG difference in workflow.

Realtime 1080P unrendered playback of alpha channel (for keying qc)with ultrakey is fun!

  • anything with “snow” or similar looking will be difficult to encode.
nothing to do with it being RED footage.

try 1280×720 with max 10mbps instead of 5, but keep
    the average at 5.

also try single pass vbr. rarely I will get glitches
in 2 pass vbr that I don’t in 1 pass vbr.

  • make sure you use 2-pass vbr at 5mbps
and “best quality” checked and 1280x720P resolution.

That will offer the smallest file size, best quality HD situation
    for online viewing.

2-pass encoding should be able to make that scene work.

Building then burning to disc from encore has always been problematic.

I just “build to folder” then burn the folder with Toast.

    always works.

since you are on a pc, I would recommend burning with Nero.

Apple ProRes would be the best option to maintain quality
    at a reduced file size.

[Jon Grimson] “I think UltraKey works just as well in Premiere as it does in After Effects. Some were saying it works better in AE but I couldn’t see a difference. The fact that it works fast and well (supposedly) in PPCC means one less step and workflow.”

    Same here.

If you learn and tweak every aspect possible, the final result is excellent.

And being able to play it in realtime, unrendered showing the alpha channel
only blew my mind the first time I did that.

I use Ultrakey on 100% of our green screen work with
the garbage matte or crop and never had any problem
    with exports.

    mac premiere cc version here.

I thought on CS6 you did have to have black magic sequences with their hardware.
(but maybe that was cs 5.5)

but with CC it didn’t matter any more.

no, edit avchd in an avchd sequence. (much smoother, quicker that way as quicktime is 32bit only)

when your all done, export as a prores file.
