This has happened twice on two different edit systems two different projects, audio clips that are linked to video, i.e. an interview, suddenly disappear from the timeline. The video clip remains, but the audio clip is gone. We go back and open the projects from the AutoSave and the clips are missing from those too. Even AutoSave projects from the previous day, where we know the audio was in place, are missing the same clips. It doesn’t just take them offline, they are gone. We have to go back to the original footage and bring it back in.

In both instances the editors were zoomed in on the timeline, using Option+MouseWheel, to fine trim some clips then when they zoomed back out some audio clips were missing. That is the only common denominator we can figure out.

Anyone else run into this with CC?

Just a hint fir easier recovery: try using Match Frame (F) to bring up clip in editor with original ins and outs…

Match Frame works to replace the missing audio, but we lose all our levels and filter settings.

I would still like to know why this happens.
