Pardon me for intervening, but as a virtual dub user I’d like to recommend you both post what version you are using as there are different versions that may be causing the issues.

I have 4gb ram and a black magic multibridge extreme.

Sounds like you need to check your projector settings.
To my knowledge the decklink products operate perfectly out of the box.
Adjustments for quality would be in FCP. -

there shouldn’t be. It just conforms to specifications.
AS for best pc mpeg2 encoder?
Procoder 2 gets my vote. its fast as well.

I’ve been doing nothing but 10-bit for over a year now and everything seems just fine.

to get the pc version I believe you need to download that version of the codec.
I use black magic hardware and have 8 and 10 bit versions of their quicktime codec on the G5 and PC.
I can render out of AE from the pc, then import that into fcp and play it in realtime.
I had to teach this to our compositor because he was initially doing what you were, rendering out though to animation, then importing it, then rendering a gain so it would play in realtime.

Just run the uninstaller from the blackmagic installer.

It sounds to me like you should convert all of your footage
to DVCPro-HD and go from there.mpeg streamclip can do this quickly and efficiently.

I’ve had no problems with 5.0.x
