What is the best program on a PC to do MPEG2 conversions?
Squeeze? Cleaner? Maybe a shareware program?
I’m faced with the AWESOME-LY awful task of needing to convert 250+ 1/2hr programs into MPEG2.
The source is a QT movie using the 625 IMX 50 codec (PAL).
The client has been very vague and has requested MPEG2 @ 15mbs with a LONG GOP/Windows based encode.
Is there even a difference between a windows based encode and a mac based encode when it comes to MPEG2?

there shouldn’t be. It just conforms to specifications.
AS for best pc mpeg2 encoder?
Procoder 2 gets my vote. its fast as well.

What about the whole “windows based” encoding VS mac? A file is a file correct??

I’m not sure that the 625 IMX 50 codec is available on Quicktime for Windows? Don’t you have to have an Avid installed in order to get access to the format?
