I’m running a Quad G5 system with 4gb ram and it plays,edits,scrubs HDV just like it were DV.
I have a black magic multibridge but all that really does for HDV is allow simultaneous monitoring of the timeline on my pro crt and plasma.
We just shot a days worth of HDV footage for a local museum, that will be entirely captured & edited with the HDV codec.

I would also try that with mpeg stream clip.
It is amazingly robust and fast at doing conversions including frame rate changes.

I emailed you back.
It had no effect and I now do not believe it was the firmware that broke it.
I believe it just is not working hdmi out because the one time I looked at it on the plasma it was via component.
unfortanetly component is now hard wired to our dvd player.
The heart of the matter is 720P uncompressed or hdv doesn’t matter, will not playback properly out of dvi-d hdmi to our plasma.
Thats what needs to be fixed.

At this point I would have it done by a 3rd party bureau.

A lot of folks out there seem hell bent on getting the latest update to everything the second it comes out.
The biggest thing I learned for my years as an I.T. consultant, you absolutely NEVER upgrade your software unless you have to.
Like if its not broken DON’T fix it.
I’ve seen a lot of folks learn this the hard way and its not pretty.

That adds a loss to the image if you export a DV timeline as DV again though doesn’t it?
Or is it ok for a generation or 2 like DVCPRO?

sorry that should have read 5.x.x
I have the upgrade to 5.1.2 but have chosen not to run it yet as 5.04 works perfectly fine for now. It definitely supports HDV capture.

Yep, I began this from day one when we switched over to fcp from smoke.
Everything downloaded goes into the “documents” folder.

Do a google for “trashing your preferences” this could fix the problem.
Search the apple fcp support forums as well.
You may need to re-install.The capture utility for HDV in 5.1 is different than the regular one used.
