    Hi,
I have Blackmagic 10 bit 29.97 media that I need to convert both the frame rate and the size to 1080p 23.98. I am using Final Cut 5.1.4 and have access to a Multibridge Pro. I have tried to recapture the media and upconvert it during the capture, but I am getting a “no video input” when I do this. I have the deck going out to the Multibridge SDI and the Decklink set to upconvert SD to HD on input. I have the Blackmagic HDTV 1080p 23.98 codec selected in the Final Cut capture settings. Is the problem that the frame rate of the tape and the frame rate of the codec I want to convert to are different? Anyway to get around this problem?
I have tried to use the Nattress Standards Conversion film converter plugin to convert the framerate, but the video comes out looking jittery, no matter what I do.
    Anyway to do this?
    Thanks,
    Katherine

I’d suggest getting done professionally though a Terranex.

Have you tried the “shift fields” filter?

    Hi Katherine:
To try to convert SD to HD, 29,97 to 23,98 and get a good deinterlacing all toguether in real time is a hard job. Try Compressor or Shake and be ready for a long waiting time if you wont to get a good up-converstion.
    Cheers,
    Rafael

Wow, I have to do a better job of checking my grammar.

What I meant to say was, Katherine, I’d suggest getting this job done professionally through a Terranex.

The reason I say so is that you have to change both frame rate and field order. Not only do you have to affect the timing, but you will need superior deinterlacing. The Terranex is up to the job.

I would also try that with mpeg stream clip.

It is amazingly robust and fast at doing conversions including frame rate changes.
