David, I’ve heard the Panasonic DMR series will.
a workaround would be one of those DV to analog
converters to do it that way.I’m still running a DMR-E30 from 2002 and I’m
frankly amazed at how reliable and still running
strong it is after so much use. -

no, not unless you are going BACK to film do you need native 24p editing necesarily.
Besides, 24P Advanced (24PA) is not even supported in fcs 2 yet so its 24p or 30p are your only options.
If your uncertain, stick with 30 and you’ll be fine.

the 24P mode give you 24fps cadence (jitter/judder) in a 60i stream.
If you want it to look like film/24p then shoot 24p.
If you want it more fluid like TV shows then shoot 30p.
Its really that simple.

sounds like they had a bad component connection somewhere.
I would actually demand they give you proper footage.

I shot a concert with 3 V1U’s and this is my advice:
If you choose 24fps, shoot 24P not 24PA. This will allow
you to edit in a 60i easy setup with your 24P embedded within.There is no reason to shoot 24PA unless you intend to print to film.
The capture preset that works perfectly in FCS 2 is
“1080i60 firewire basic” oddly the “1080i60 Sony HDV”
easy setup was completely unstable and locked up fcp during capture. -

As odd as it seems, I have found you get better quality if its set for Fast.
Makes no sense at all.

As for the grid, you could easily make one in photoshop
and use it as a template. -
Use any sony HDV deck to playback the canon HDV tapes.
It will work on everything EXCEPT 24f canon mode.The JVC WILL NOT (I own one) playback any HDV except
JVC’s HDV.And for the record my G5 Quad with a multibridge extreme will still not capture HD prores without dropping frames with the 6.01 update.

pretty much All display devices are 8-bit only.
I think the only real 10-bit displays are PRO CRT’s with SMPTE C phospors and there are LCD’s with 10-bit gamma but still only display 8-bits.
The E-cinema LCD’s might be 10-bit as well.
