Reuben is right. FreeForm V2 (only $99.00) replaces Digieffects FreeForm that was bundled with CS5. FreeForm V2 is up to 10 times faster and will open all files created with the bundled version. See: https://www.mettle.com/freeform-v2/

Walter makes some excellent points.

AE developer hat off and AE user hat on.
Strong GPU(s) will be a must moving forward. Once you get a chance to work at that speed then there is really no turning back. Speed = more time to create and less time waiting. More and more apps will take advantage of the GPU espcially now that it looks the next Apple OS may finally catch up to WIN in openGL support.

I would plan robust GPU(s) into your buying mix.

This can be done with careful use of AE 3D layers. Here is a neat clip by one of our customers that uses both AE 3D layers to one folding ârt and another folding part is done by FreeForm Pro.

For a more complicated origami fold (paper airplane) with FreeForm Pro. See:

Also the cubes in the animation the following link are created from a single layer that uses FreeForm Pro to fold the flat layer into a cube and then replicated and animated the cube using the built-in Generator in FreeForm Pro. There is a free project file for this one on our site.
