Hey John, thanks for the kind words on ours prods, I will definitely post more info as I get it.

BTW, I love the music for this title sequence too. Such great tone and texture in both of the singers voices.

  • Thanks Anastacia,

Thanks for the kind words and I am intrigued to see what you are doing with Invigorator/Pro animator. Please post samples images here when you can.

  • Hi Anastacia,

I am surprised to read that you find Shapeshifter difficult to learn. Use the AE text tool then use Shapeshifter AE right on that layer right in the AE comp window. Same with AE masks, shape layers, imported eps etc.etc. Check this out: vimeo.com/81165213

For what it is worth, I think all 3 products are great and each has it’s strength and weaknesses. Mettle (FreeForm Pro & Shapeshifter), VCP (Element 3D) and Zaxwerks have each done a wonderful job with their offerings and I would recommend that you, eventually, get them all.

They are all very powerful in their own ways and complement each other very well.

Reuben, glad FreeForm got you out of a bind. Can you post a link to the final result please?

Digieffects FreeForm was bundled with CS 5.5 as well. Not CS6 (+later). FreeForm V2 is for CS6 and up (available at mettle.com)

Just guessing here but I think you may be applying FreeForm to an AE 3D layer. This is not a good idea as it would produce unexpected results. All 3D plug-ins should be used on AE 2D layers to work properly. This includes the Trapcode products, Element 3D and even AE’s own 3D plug-ins like Shatter. You can definitely do true 3D with all Mettle plug-ins for AE. There is no 2.5D trickery going on with our stuff. We run a full and robust 3D engine in our plug-ins.

Yes. Dave at Funky Medics was highly inspired by Dan Gies work and his tutorials. Dave tells me he took things a step further with this piece. I look forward to seeing Dave’s tuts and I will post link(s) when I get them.

Thanks Todd. Yes, FreeForm was used for the head, the hair, the guitar and in other parts of the clip as well. Dave (Funky Medics) just got in touch with me and told me that he plans on putting together a tutorial for this. I will post a link when he is done.

Try it again Tudor… we were migrating mettle.com to a new server and there is always a lag by the time it propagates properly.
