Hi Mathew,

Digieffects FreeForm is very render intensive but then again so is any real 3D effect when pushed hard. That said, we (Mettle, creators of Digieffects FreeForm) are currently in Beta with FreeForm Pro. FreeForm Pro is much , much faster and much more feature rich. It is hardware accelerated so it can be up to 20x (or more) faster depending on your system set up and what you are doing with it.

The speed factor alone opens up creative possibilities, let alone the new feature set 🙂 Can’t wait to show you.

Not sure if this is wahat you are looking for but try Freeform for this kind of effect. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1F8B8wy4W4 I use a solid in this example but it could just as easily been a photo.

This shows teh 3D Dispalcement mapping feature.

Yes, this is correct. This effect is not reserved for type only. It could be used on a .eps logo (for instance). See: https://www.mettle.com/technology/myl_ed_nab/nab_reg.php you will see the effect used on text as well as logos if you watch the whole sequence.
