April 20, 2017 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Mettle Skybox Studio Extractor not working as expectedApologies for the late reply. Not sure why I am not getting notifications for the COW about 360, VR or SkyBox related issues ☹
1) Please make sure you have the latest demo version from our site.
2) Make sure you watch a few tutorials on our site. Extractor may not be the best approach… there may ways to create 360/VR content with SkyBox products… including SkyBox Creator, SkyBox Composer, SkyBox Extractor, SkyBox Project 2D etc.
Make sure you are working on footage that adheres to industry norms for 360/VR production… this is very important as our products are optimized for the formats.
i.e. 4K Mono 2:1 Equirectangular etc.
Or 4K Stereo 1:1 Over Under…If all fails then please file support ticket with us on our site and we will do everyting in our power to help.
Thanks for your patience.
Cheers,
Chris

March 14, 2017 at 4:33 pm in reply to: Mettle’s Cinematic 360 VR Tools for After Effects & Premiere ProThanks for the kind words ☺
I think you nailed it… SkyBox Studio offers up so many different ways to resolve different tasks in Cinematic 360 production.
SkyBox Converter & SkyBox Extractor were part of the original SkyBox Studio V1 and I think that Extractor is still very powerful. Good thing is you have choices… depending on what you need to do you can choose Composer or the other offerings that ship with SkyBox Studio V2.
There are plenty of tutorials on our site on V 1 & V2 but if you are still hitting a wall then reach out to me directly and I can give you a walk through via Skype.
Cheers,
Chris

Dmitri, yes this is possible with SkyBox Studio for After Effects.
Although it is very easy to do, it is too difficult for me to explain via text. Also I am in Germany right now giving talks and workshops.I am back at my desk this coming Thursday Feb. 2nd. I have time early in the morning (Eastern Standard Time). Please reach out to me directly at chris (at) mettle.com and we can go over this via Skype together when I am back at my desk.

January 27, 2017 at 10:38 pm in reply to: 360 VR Compositing problem. (AE & Mettle Skybox)Hey James,
not sure why, but I only got notified by the COW about this post right now ☹ I will speak to admin at the COW to see if there is a glitch in their notifications (in some way).
In future feel free to reach out to me directly chris (at) mettle.com I would be happy to look at things closely with you.One observation you made that is right on the money is that The AE architecture definitely has room for improvement, especially when it comes to 3D third party plugins. We are working very closely with Adobe and hope to have an even tighter integration with AE in the future.
In the interim, please check out our blog for some amazing customer success stories including some recent ones from Sundance 2017… we will post quite a few success stories from Sundance soon.
Lastly, I cannot state this often enough: #MettleCustomersRock ☺
Thanks for your patience and understand ing and feel free to reach out to me directly in the future if you are under the gun.
Cheers,
Chris

The answer is Yes and NO…
Yes this can be done via HTML 5 but would only work in your own proprietary environment.
No even if we built a tool right now that made easy for you to do, we (all) still need the major 360 players like FaceBook & youtube to support this.
I think it is inevitable… all players will probably support this and many features at “view time” – I know we are talking to FaceBook & youtube about this and much, much more.

You may have inadvertently moved your layer a bit. If you are (even) one pixel off, it would cause this.
Please file bug reports here : support.mettle.com
Thanks.

This effect is very doable in “FreeForm” + “FreeForm Pro” – adding CC Glas on top of that is a good idea.
An openGL error probably means that your GPU does not qualify to run “FreeForm Pro”. Try “FreeForm V2” on the same system… you will not get this error.
Or, use FreeForm Pro on a system with a qualified GPU (Display Card).

Use animated Turbulent Noise or Fractal Noise as a 3D displacement map in FreeForm or FreeForm Pro to achieve the cloth or hair animation you see in these examples… quite easy really.
