Paint Drip Bumps
Posted by Kuljeet Singh on February 10, 2016 at 5:26 amhi,
i’m trying to make Paint drip transition, so that in the end paint covers all the screen. I used CC mercury on solid layer to create this effect, but cant achieve what i want to achieve.
Please help me how to get bumps & reflections only on the edges.
Please see the attached image for the Reference.

February 10, 2016 at 7:21 amFreeForm Pro can be used to achieve this effect. You can displace your animated paint layer in 3D space. This will enable you to use Lights and have control over the texture of the paint, also you can use a rflection map for more realism. To create a displacement map you can comp a duplicate of your animated paint layer over black, use a Hue/Saturation effect to crush all color to white and a Matte Choker to feather the edge – you may need to add a soft blur as well. Precomp and use as a displacement map in the FF Pro plugin- this will give you the bevel you need for the paint layer.

February 10, 2016 at 6:27 pmYou might try messing with CC Glass on top of your drips.

February 12, 2016 at 7:51 ammany thanks to all for the help.
1. i’ve tried free form pro, but it gives open Gl Command error.
2. then i created reflection map as TED said, used it in “CC Glass” bump map, which created random bumps on my paint compo.Overall it improved the looks. But bumps are random, i only want them on edges, is there any way around.
Many Thanks

February 12, 2016 at 2:18 pmThis effect is very doable in “FreeForm” + “FreeForm Pro” – adding CC Glas on top of that is a good idea.
An openGL error probably means that your GPU does not qualify to run “FreeForm Pro”. Try “FreeForm V2” on the same system… you will not get this error.
Or, use FreeForm Pro on a system with a qualified GPU (Display Card).
Cheers,
Chris
