FreeForm Pro would be perfect for this.

Very easy to pull this effect off and very fast to render. See: https://www.mettle.com/product/freeform-pro/

Come to think of it, I will add this to my list of tutorials for FreeForm pro. Thanks, great idea for a use of FreeForm Pro 🙂

    Thanks Tudor.

Pierre, you need to use the Extractor module that comes with SkyBox Studio. I can show you how via Skype if you like, let me know.

Thanks for the shout out Walter 🙂

FreeForm Pro is excellent for projection mapping. A slew of Ae plugins were used on top of FreeForm Pro for the following piece (see link below).

    Details in the blog post.

We are launching this very soon. Instructional videos etc. in the works.

This is great for use with all 3D plugins that support reflection mapping and environment mapping. we create Cubic, Spherical and Equirectangular formats.

I can see Mettle SkyBox output used with all 3D plugins that support reflection mapping or environment or for use with 3D apps like C4D Maya etc. Game engine like the Unreal engine, Unity 3D… webGL… Dome projections or for VR.

Ae plugins like FreeFormn Pro, ShapeShifter, Element 3D, Zaxwerks, Boris 3D should benefit from this offering.

To add to Tudor’s excellent suggestions, you can also use the “World Space Deformation” available in FreeForm Pro to add even more variance.

    So think that you can:
    1) Deform the AE layer (solid, imported anim or still, pre-comp etc.) with FreeForm Pro in comp manipulation… it basically turns AE layers into rubber like sheets.
    2) Use the built-in Generator to duplicate this as many times as you like and offset, rotate scale the duplicates.
    3) Cast shadows on all duplicates.
    4) Use the delay and randomize features in Generator to add temporal variance
    5) Use the “World Space Deformations”to add spatial variance.

Should do quite nicely for this challenge.

    HTH.

    You are correct Tudor.

The background is done with the new “Sky/BG” feature we added in the “Environment” Section of FreeForm Pro and Shapeshifter AE. Think Trapcode Horizon (kinda).

This clip also show cases “Spherical Displacement” a new 3D displacement mode we added to ShapeShifter AE>

    More sneak peaks coming.
