I have read all the replies, and here is an alternate solution which is not always feasable, but if it works within your format, it is a viable option: Simply cut back and forth between your subjects. In-other-words, start with subject A, then cut to subject B, then to C, then back to A, then back to C, etc. As long as you have continuity in the subject matter and the answers, this can work nicely while allowing you to eliminate the mistakes.

Does your DAT machine have an optical digital output? If so, use the digital input of your Mac (Power PC or MacPro) to capture your music. Using Firewire will require a video source as well.

Is there now a firewire card that will work in the Mac Pro? When I sold my G5 and bought the Intel Mac, I had to give up my PCI card, because it would not work in the Mac Pro, and there was nothing available yet.

There are a couple of possible issues here. First, there was a serious problem with Compressor version 1.xx (not sure which xx) in regards to the “Best” setting or 2-pass VBR. This was resolved in version 2.0. Either upgrade or try encoding in CBR. If your project is 90 minutes or under, you should be ok.
Secondly, keep your maximum bit-rate under 7.5, and use Dolby (AC3) encoding for your audio. The brand of media you are using is reliable and well-respected, so I don’t think that’s your issue. It’s probably one of the above.

I have ETK7 and I have no problems. I just drag the animations directly into FCP and render there. No reason to render in both the Juicer and FCP.
I have several of the DJ products, and the only one I have had issues with the Alpha Channel is my very old version of ETK1. That one has to be rendered in Juicer 2 first, and you must use the Animation Codec with millions+ colors as Scott said. -
Thanks Arnie. There was no separate Alpha Channel, but each layer did have an effect applied to the text. I remembered something about this affecting layers in FCP, so I turned off the effects, and the layers returned in FCP. I also added a transparent layer at the bottom. I seem to recall that in order to use effects, you need to add a transparent layer under each existing layer in order for the effects to show up in FCP. Correct?

Do you see it on your NTSC monitor? If not, I wouldn’t worry about it. If it’s for web use, just crop it a little.

This is not an issue in Title 3D, only in the FCP text generator.
