What a killjoy, David. You expect him to actually click that link and go READ it? He wanted you to read it, digest the matter, and then give him the Cliff Notes version.

Next time, do your job, David. Don’t be lazy.

    WTF???

    Are you kidding, Rick.

I can’t count the number of US jobs that went north because it was cheaper.

Besides, ever heard of NAFTA? There was a total screwing of American workers if ever there was one. Canada gets free ingress into the US market while American workers have to have a freakin’ passport and 50 reasons just to cross the damned border.

    A Video Institution?????

When I first saw the subject line of this thread, I thought something important was in danger of being lost.

I have read Dick’s column for years and there’s been so little new in it that I quit reading him long ago.

When I make the exception and try to read him again, it’s just a rehash of the same things he’s said time and again. I can see why Videography finally gave up on him.

[George Socka] “OTOH, you can try FCP or PPro for less than the cost of attending NAB for a few days and then dump them if they end up being less effective than your existing ading AVID solution. The competition HAS changed.”

Only a child would think this an argument. The LEAST expensive part of any studio is the software. Just ask your accountant. You do have one, don’t you?

It is the person behind the controls and their training costs that far outweighs the cost of a box of software. Only an idiot would change out the focus of their studio on the basis of a cheap box of software.

Yes, the market has changed. More stupid people are now in it than ever before.

The search engine has Aharon and Andrew’s answers, given on a few occasions.

Check out Aharon Rabinowitz’s free After Effects podcast that he does for Creative COW. There are what seems like 100 or so free two to five minute video tutorials that unlock many areas of After Effects. He also illuminates many fundamental principles that are core to working in animation and motion graphics.

    The podcast is at https://www.creativecow.net/podcasts

Me, I’d recommend that you paint the inside of your glasses black so that you don’t see anything that offends you.

I always laugh when the same people that tell people of faith that they should turn off the TV if they don’t like what they see, are the first to want to take away someone else’s right to express themselves.

Talk about intellectual hypocrisy. Whatever happened to progressive tolerance?

    Sad, really sad.

Perhaps, one of us could just drive over and do it for you. That would really save you some time, not to mention effort. After all, we wouldn’t want to see you have to exert yourself and maybe even have to go so far as to actually have to read something or maybe take a lesson or two.
