Anyone know of a tutorial, or just a decent explanation of how to pull off the HP Picture Frames commercial look?

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=Oh2T487ZuLE

Is it all just motion tracking, duplicate and mask a layer to fit the frame, then tweak it in 3d to follow the frame?

Maybe I just need a good motion tracking tutorial?

Not sure what I need here, just know I need to be able to make the look, or close to it at least. I’m doing a project for my mom, a memories video using pics and old film from her childhood of her and her no longer with us parents, and I would love to use this effect in a couple areas…

Thanks for any direction you can give!

Another common question for the page in the sticky posts box and the search engine.

Yeah I tried to search for this one… but the ubiquitous names “Picture” and “Frame” turned up an astounding amount of hits, I figured I might just ask again! =)

My problem with referring everything to the FAQ sticky post is some of those links are outdated. For example, the two threads in the Mac vs. PC sticky are both over a year old, and both recommend “waiting until Mac comes with Core 2 Duo” … Well Mac has been Core 2 Duo for a while now. A newer user, or future up-grader with a Mac vs. PC question will not find an answer relevant to the currently available hardware choices without starting a new thread based on what’s available.

    Just my two cents.

Ah, but did you look at the sticky just above the first forum post? Since yes, searching can bring up a lot of hits, it’s good to look at the sticky first before searching. 🙂

… and adding “HP” to the search string might have cut down on the irrelevant hits. 😉

Point taken. Many threads need to be updated. However, in this case, if I’m not mistaken, the HP spots aren’t that new …?

True, and I did find what I needed on the FAQ sticky, thanks for the direction. I wasn’t complaining, just trying to point out a limitation =)

I tried adding HP, and “commercial” to the search string. The response about needing to add this to the sticky prompted me to venture into it, and sure enough, it was there!

    Thanks!

    Yep, I agree … because hardware changes so much, maybe keeping hardware-related sticky posts is a waste of time … a mug’s game … a fool’s errand … 🙂
