[Avision Franklin] “Attempts: I tried camera tracker, but even the null, solid and text track objects move with the camera also.”

I won’t even go deeper in the troubles you’re having with that, but lets make the rest clear first. Why would you track a camera from a scene that you already have a camera? You said you created the scene with element 3d. So you either, animated a camera going from top to bottom (NO REASON to export, import and track), or you animated the building going up.

On the first case all you have to do is make your model’s footage 3d and place them at street level.

In case you animated the buildings, make the footage 3d and link it to the building’s null or via expression in case you didn’t use element’s create null button.

Make things match in scale, and you’re done.

  • You should watch some basic tutorials of AE. Any on them will help you understand how to do that.

Try for “rotating layers” and “masking layers” and “adding expressions”.

  • have you tried imputing the character map’s number of space? alt+0160 ? It is still cumbersome but at least copying and pasting is faster than manually positioning rectangles.

Your camera settings are far off what particular expects as default settings (your focus is too close to the camera).

You’re probably not seing the particles because they are blurring it out too much. You can precompose that particular layer with a duplicate of your camera and just reduce the blur amount (in the camera’s parameter) or the aperture amount by some fraction of what you current have animated.

Perhaps I’m mistaking the number of tracks as an option from the TF’s camera tracker plugin instead of AE’s native one.

Maybe you’re able to force some features in by changing some colors, and make sure you’re masking the skater out from the calculations. But this may only help you little and it will deppend on how bad the tracking is coming out now.

If all this fails I’d still try to motion track some features near the window frame, attach the e3d layer to it and fake some of the 3d movement cause after all there isn’t much camera rotation.

    good luck

you need two groups with the same number of particles with that shape, emmited in a ring shaped object. the anchor should be on the botton. Rotate the second group’s particle by 180 degrees in the X axis. Use a Sphere animator to transition between groups. (I’m not sure you can get that randomness though).

For the texturing I would have two instances of that element layer. One with just ambient occlusion with everything white just so I’d multiply the shadows. The other should be one side white (on the particle shape) and one side black so you could use it as a luma matte for anything you’ll want to transition to.

You can get pretty close to that using element. But that was probably done in a full 3d application.

have you tried enhancing the details of the dark areas by adding some curves to it?

And are you using the detailed analysis? Have you tried increasing the number of trackers?

I usually get better/easier results with The Foundry’s camera tracker plugin. If you have access to it you should try it.

  • you have the checkbox “Import psd sequence” set to On. (botton right corner of the import options window)

  • you can go into View -> View Options (shortcut ctrl + alt + U) and set camera wireframes to allways on.
