Why not start with keyframe 3, go to 1 and then go to two? Now animate in your final comp using time remmap. That’s how you should do it.

You should try any script that uses the newest functionality of AE2018 of accessing vertex (and tangent) data.

Pro tip:
Its a lot easier if you create a camera and position that instead of rotating the null, because you’ll avoid any gimbal rotation issues. And with a camera, you can also remove most of the perspective you’ll have if you just use the default camera view angle of ~35º. So it will look more like your example.Cassius Marques

It should be something like…
1º: Draw the shape of one blade as if viewed from the front.
2º: Create a null layer and position it on your desired anchor of rotation. (botton center, in that case)
3º: Set both layers to 3d. (null and shape)
4º: Link the blade(shape) to the null layer.
5º: Either rotate them to the desired position or create a camera and position the camera.
6º: Duplicate the shape 3 times and unparent these three.
7º: Rotate the null 90º in X, relink one shape, repeat 7º for the remaining two shapes.Cassius Marques

I really hate this forum for not being able to edit/remove posts =P.

What exactly are you using the trace path for? I mean, can’t you copy the path and paste it into a null’s position, them make both 3d and them you apply the transformations you had done (that require making the solid 3d), to both?
It’s hard to grasp at what are you trying to do without seeing the file. But there’s nothing of the sort you’re describing that can’t be done, its just a matter of workflow.

I’ve got a newer version of form, so I can’t try to mimic your settings to test it. There’s no “quick maps” tab anymore. IT could be a bug or the setting thats really controlling the color is hidden somewhere else.

And why can’t you make the null travelling around the mask a 3d layer?

start by applying the default extrude, if you still won’t get the caps, the problem lies in your paths. Try to reverse the inner paths orientation and check for overlapping.
