March 23, 2018 at 1:18 pm in reply to: How to put a photo of a person into a cube in after effectsYou don’t need to mask the photo, You have to mask the cube that is supposed to be in front of your photo (in your timeline), so that its back won’t obfuscate the photo.
You can also create a wireframed cube in a 3d app and import it. Then you could literally place the photo inside it, all within one E3D layer. There will be no need to mask anything in that case.

You should pay closer atention to the range selector (on your animator, click the right arrow, go for “selector” then “range”).
That’s will enable you to select defined parts of your text.

To make the photo look like its inside it, you’ll need to have three instances of Element, one for the masking (used as a luma matte) and two others to “sandwich” the photo.
The one for masking should have its output changed to world position.
There are several tutorials encompassing that in VideoCopilot’s page.

March 22, 2018 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Markers in nested comp not showing in the outer compI may be misunderstanding what you’re talking about, if that’s the case, let me apologize in advance…
But I do get the option to update markers.
And the behaviour you seem to be describing is how I’ve known AE to behave since what, version 6.5? (before CS)

I’m guessing that example is done by hand. But as for the animation… AE can easily do the motion, but the paper bending will be the hardest part. You’re better off in a 3d app (But still that look is done by hand drawing, to acchieve that you’ll need an extra step after the animatic)

March 16, 2018 at 5:16 pm in reply to: Problem with Rasterizing 3d .ai Vector layersThe cinema 4d renderer has a quality slider(inside the options button) that dictates the AA amount.
The default C4d (standalone) renders lines pretty aliased too.

March 16, 2018 at 5:11 pm in reply to: How isolate numbers in Comp names and parse them into integersYou’re not having to parse because you’re adding the string 00 (its between “”) to another string. And It shouldn’t work before for the same reasons, you were probably trying to add a string to an integer. In that case you should just have it display as 3 digits.
But since parsing 01 would still result in 1. The best way to display 001 is adding the string manually, like you have.Cassius Marques
