Hey Dawid. As far as what’s happening on the buildings and lights throughout, there’s a number of ways to achieve that glow effect. I’ve got the FxFactory set of plugins that has a number of glow and bloom effects that could achieve that. You’d just need to set up keyframes so that the glow intensifies on the beat.

If you didn’t want to use any third party plugins, you could try a combination of box or gaussian blurs with a curve and/or exposure increase to increase the luminance. And then you’d need to create a feathered mask so that the entire image isn’t blurred. And then of course you’d need to keyframe the effect so that it’s more intense on the beat. Or you could just duplicate the layer that has the mask on it and keyframe the opacity – that might be quicker than keyframing all the other effects.. This would take considerably more time than buying a third party glow effect plugin..

I personally haven’t had this problem since I’ve upgraded from CS6 to CC, however, I’ve also been much more picky about what exactly I send to AE. What version of PP and AE are you using? And what are you doing in AE that you’re not able to do in PP?

What frame rate was the footage shot at? I’m trying to stabilize some 59.94 (60P) and it’s doing the same crop, but without the flicker. In a 23.97 timeline it doesn’t do it. But in my case i need to stabilize the 60P so I can get some smooth slow mo going…

Any chance you’re shooting 60P (59.94) frame rate? I’m getting the same problem but worse.. But if I do 23.97, it doesn’t get screwy – wonder if there’s a frame rate bug…

@kris One reason you might want to change sequence settings is if you’re using multicam. I transcoded to 720 ProRes Proxy because my machine (really any machine) couldn’t handle 16 streams of 1080p h264, but it sure runs through that Proxy like a beauty. Anyway, once I begin to add in cutaways, I’d like to do so in 1080, so I pop my 720 multicam in the 1080 timeline – keeping my proxies still connected in case I want to make any changes. I then go back to my original 1080 media once the edit is set, but darn it if the multicam sequence is 720 and there’s no way to change the sequence settings… The only solution is to hack into the actual PP file, and thank goodness Thoraya Binz shows you how to do it here https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/936546

I’ve had the same problem – especially when I’m linking to more than one AE project.. So I try to and make sure and keep to one AE project. I’ve also read along the way that if you start up AE first, the dynamic link sticks a little better. It’s not perfect yet..

Yeah, there are definitely ways of simulating a multicam setup – especially if you’ve only got two or three tracks that you’re cutting together. I’m working on a music video today where I’ve got 16 tracks playing at once (see below) so if I had those bad boys stacked up and was trying to cut sections out here and there, it’d be quite challenging… And not that you should, but you could upgrade and immediately start working in CS6 or CC..

I was only guessing – I didn’t realize he had a Ninja 2! And I say stick with Mac regardless..

Yeah, it’s $375 to upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 (or at least it was when I did it). For me, CS5.5 ended up being practically worthless as I use multicam a bunch, not to mention it seemed like there was a problem like you’ve pointed out around every corner. I jumped from FCP7 over to FCPX for a second when they released multicam, but that didn’t last long. I personally do a lot of finishing in After Effects, so the dynamic link option is perfect for me in CS6 BUT! there’s no way to flatten multicam sequences in CS6 (it is an option in CC) and the work around for getting the clips to AE through dynamic link is very cumbersome. So I’m personally wondering if they’ve got me by the you know what, and I’ll be switching to CC soon (important note, I can still effect/color individual edits as long as I stay inside Premier).. And I complain about this, but just think of a few years ago when were messing around with automatic duck and jumping through way more hoops to get to a coloring program, so I shouldn’t complain.

That’s all a long winded way of saying for me, CS6 is a very well rounded NLE that I can’t find any holes in except the dynamic link to After Effects. CS5.5 however, is unusable for me.
