Hi,
If you look in the ReadMe that came with your version of Xpress Pro, there should be a section that tells you how to set up the video overlay settings of your Nvidia card to prevent the color shift from happening.
If you can’t find it, try Googling “Avid video overlay.”
That said, if your sequence is eventually going to be shown on a television, you should be using an external monitor to color correct.

It’d be much easier to use After Effects for this. The Leave Color effect in AE is designed to do exactly what you want.

Hi,
The current version of Xpress Pro will allow you to output Quicktimes with a wide range of codecs (just checked on my Xpress DV 4.8 machine and DV-PAL and DVCPro50 were both available).
If you’re talking about an older Xpress machine, you may or may not have as many options.
Free DV is more limited, but if I recall correctly you can still export Quicktime movies with whatever codecs are installed on your system.

Actually, I misspoke. You’re better off to using the AniMatte effect instead of Paint. Either way, I don’t think that Xpress Pro has either of them.

1. Select clip on V1 in segment mode.
2. Press CTRL+c to copy.
3. Drag clip to V2.
4. Press CTRL+v to paste clip back on V1.Done.
“I want to matte a feathered circle around someones head but all I can find is MATTE tool and I can make a HARD edged square but I can’t feather it. How can I accomplish this in AVID?”
If whatever version of Avid you’re using has the Paint Effect, then you’d use that. If not, then the easiest way is to draw it in Photoshop and import it.

Hi Lucinda,
You don’t say what version you are running, but if you have access to the Paint Effect, you can draw a shape around the object you want to lighten and apply the effect only to that area. Kind of like secondary color correction.
If you don’t have access to the Paint Effect, then After Effects is your next best option.
