Avid Media Composer training
Posted by Theoutsider on November 1, 2007 at 10:00 pmI have been tasked with getting up to speed on Avid’s Media Composer very quickly (preferably within the next couple of weeks). Can someone suggest some good learning resources for both this short term need as well as good reference material for the long term?
Thank you!

Avid’s tutorial is good for the bare bones basics. Avid’s training series DVD’s are better. Avid also has an online training system called ALEX, but I’ve not used it and can’t vouch for its value.

November 2, 2007 at 11:29 amNot to hijack this thread, but I just recently (a few posts down) was asking about whether Avid’s DVDs are worth it. I’m talking about the effects DVDs in particular (not AvidFX, just effects). If you don’t mind, could you take a look at the post and give me any insight on that you may have?

November 6, 2007 at 6:57 pmThe DMTS DVD series, Inside Avid Xpress Pro will also be a great resource. It’s hosted by Steve Bayes, author of the Avid Handbook (which I second as being an excellent resource). Despite the fact that it’s made for Avid Xpress Pro, the interfaces are very similar and it will get you up to speed quickly.
