Give it time… for some reason, if you try to set a poster frame AFTER you’ve saved it it looses the streaming information.

Give it time and it will load.

Partial clips off the tape? Or partial clips off the captured material?

Partial clips off the tape is done in Log and Capture. Partial clips off the captured material can be done with either markers or subclips.

    Is that what you want?

One tip I learned AFTER I did this podcast video was you don’t have to keep sellecting colors… you just click and drag the eyedropper around the color space you want to isolate and FCP will pick up all those color shades.

Bob — I did a little free tutorial on this effect. It kind of follows the KenStone technique… but with a few twists.

If you want to add another color, just add a chroma key on top of that layer and you’ll have multiple colors…

  • What you didn’t tell us is what 24 you used on the DVX… did you use 24P or 24pA? If you used the 24pA then you should probably remove the pulldown on capture — edit in 24 — then add BACK the 2.3 pulldown when exporting back to tape for broadcast.

IF you shot in 24P then it has the 2.3 pulldown already on it and you should just edit in 29.97.

The advanced pulldown looks a little jumpy on TVs.

    Good luck,

Here’s a couple of hints. Use the eyedroppers next to each wheel.

White – pick something white… not blown out, but white.
    Black – pick something black…
Mid – pick something neutral or gray

    That will get you close.

    Another trick but less effective

Zoom in and crop to some skin tone. Then move the center dot on the wheels until you get your skin tone to match the skin tone default on your scope… the circle scopey thingie.

But the first technique is probably the best. After you get it close, adjust.

    Good luck,

Dang! Well, all I can say is a lot of people missed a couple of great concerts by a fantastic military band with a conductor that rivals the best.

    Oh well.
