    Thanks Steven.

I’ve bought the complete package offered on the Black Friday promo and have been blown away with the results, both in video and photos. Certainly an excellent purchase.

And I would like to add a shout out to their support department. They have been fantastic helping this newbie get the most out of the software. Cheers to Ida!

Thank you for your detailed reply John. I must say the results look remarkable.

I have some old HDV video I need to include in a film project I’m working on and this looks like it could really help.

    Thanks again for your insight.

    Hi again Francois.
Thank you for your efforts on my behalf.
This is very similar to what I did using the Pan/Crop tool, but I was hoping to create something without the jerks between changes of direction. I have found that by increasing the “Smoothing” to 100 and using the “Linear” setting, I am able to reduce the jerkiness, but the moment I use the “Smooth” setting, I get a stop/start motion between keyframes.

I will look at your other suggestion (Routegenerator) and see if that will do the trick.

Thank you again for your help.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

    Hi Francois,
    Thank you for responding.

I trust I have created the link correctly. Here it is:
    13675_completesmall.jpg.zip
This is greatly reduced in resolution to allow for an easy upload.

I wish to zoom in from a wide shot to a MCU of the waterway entrance on the left side of the picture.
From there I want to slowly follow the waterway around to the other opening at the bottom of the picture, zooming in and out where necessary, and stopping occasionally as required by the script.

I have tried using the Event Pan/Crop tool with some success, but it’s far from perfect. I have to use the “Smoothness” option turned all the way to 100%. It is an extremely tedious process and I find it almost impossible to ensure that the complete movement looks like one smooth process.

I find it hard to believe that Vegas has only this one (complicated) method for achieving this simple (I thought) process – there must be a better way that I am unfortunately unable to discover.

I hope this better describes my problem.

    Thanks again for any direction.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

Thanks to both Graham and John for your valuable advice.

Okay…so I re-installed my card, as suggested. Latest drivers all round and latest iteration from Vegas (16.0.0.361) also installed.

Teasted card via windows and all appears to be functioning fine.

I’ve just completed a test on a 1 minute section of video containing some colour correction and dissolves and although the GPU only displayed 8 to 16% activity, the clip rendered more than 50% quicker using the Nvenc template.

So clearly, your comment on the asic chip is 100% John! I have yet to do a test to check on the comment I read about added noise in dark areas, so I cannot comment on that point.

Thank you so much for the time you have both taken to address my issue. I really do appreciate it.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

Hi John, and thank you for your input.

I did get this suggestion from a Magix support chap and tried out the Nvenc templates with limited success. I found that (at last) my GPU was beginning to work, but at only 8% activity. The rest of the work (60% activity) was being done by my CPU.

I tried again after your suggestion with the same result. Then I attempted using the Mainconcept AVC as encode mode, but saw zero activity from my GPU.

I have read posts from other folks who are seeing fantastic render assistance from their GPUs, so I still believe I am missing something very basic. Could I have installed the card incorrectly? Perhaps I need to change something in my Windows 10 settings? Do I need to somehow point my GPU to Vegas…or vica versa?

Another concern I have is that some people are experiencing noise being brought into their renders via the Nvenc templates, particularly in dark areas of their videos. This would be as problem for me. But this is less of a problem than getting this expensive piece of kit to function 100% with Vegas!

Further advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

Thank you for your reply Graham.

Firstly, I have only recently installed the graphics card, and yes, I have installed the latest drivers.

The first thing I did was got to >Options, >Preferences, >Video, where I selected the graphics card listed (GeForce GTX 1070 Ti) in the “GPU acceleration” box.
Next, while still in “Preferences”, I went to the “General” tab and selected “Allow GPU legacy rendering”.
    Applied these changes.
    Then I selected the video I required to be rendered, >Render as, > Sony AVC/MVC >Internet 1280×720-30p.
Then click on Customize template >Video >Encode mode >Render using GPU if available.
Then I click on the System tab >Check GPU.
Alas Vegas then tells me “No GPU available”.

And that’s where I am at present. I’m wondering if there is something I’m not doing in Windows? I am running Windows 10 (64). It is regularly updated.

Thank you again for your response.

    Cheers,
    Bruce
