    Greetings all.
I am trying to create a smooth continuous track (and some zooms) that follows a river on a large graphic I imported into Vegas.
I begin on a wide shot, zoom in to a particular section and then follow the river as it winds towards the sea.
I am trying to achieve this by using the Event Pan/Crop tool with limited to no success. I have tried all the settings within the tool (linear/smooth/slow, etc.), but cannot achieve a smooth motion between points on the timeline. The movement keeps stopping, or jerking at the points depending of what setting I have used.
Should I be using a different tool?
Is this effect possible within Vegas? (I am using Vegas Pro 16)

I’d appreciate your guidance on this.
    Many thanks.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

    Hi Bruce

Do you have a link to some sort of existing visual that would better describe what you want to achieve ?

It would greatly help to understand your vision.

    Cheers !

    Hi Francois,
    Thank you for responding.

I trust I have created the link correctly. Here it is:
    13675_completesmall.jpg.zip
This is greatly reduced in resolution to allow for an easy upload.

I wish to zoom in from a wide shot to a MCU of the waterway entrance on the left side of the picture.
From there I want to slowly follow the waterway around to the other opening at the bottom of the picture, zooming in and out where necessary, and stopping occasionally as required by the script.

I have tried using the Event Pan/Crop tool with some success, but it’s far from perfect. I have to use the “Smoothness” option turned all the way to 100%. It is an extremely tedious process and I find it almost impossible to ensure that the complete movement looks like one smooth process.

I find it hard to believe that Vegas has only this one (complicated) method for achieving this simple (I thought) process – there must be a better way that I am unfortunately unable to discover.

I hope this better describes my problem.

    Thanks again for any direction.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

    Hi Bruce

This is REALLY rough. 2 minutes worth of work using Track Motion.

Does it look anything remotely close to what you are looking for ? Or am I way off base.

Maybe you can also use this: https://www.routegenerator.net/

    Hi again Francois.
Thank you for your efforts on my behalf.
This is very similar to what I did using the Pan/Crop tool, but I was hoping to create something without the jerks between changes of direction. I have found that by increasing the “Smoothing” to 100 and using the “Linear” setting, I am able to reduce the jerkiness, but the moment I use the “Smooth” setting, I get a stop/start motion between keyframes.

I will look at your other suggestion (Routegenerator) and see if that will do the trick.

Thank you again for your help.

    Cheers,
    Bruce
