Smooth move between key frames??

I am desperately trying to achieve a continuously smooth move using the Pan/Crop tool. However, each time I add a key frame to the timeline, it creates a pause at that point. I need to add key frames as the direction I must track on the graphic requires to be curved rather that straight. I have tried the various settings, but cannot get rid of the pause.

Can anyone suggest a workaround…or am I using the wrong tool?
