Check the sample rate of the audio…go into Settings — Audio Project and make sure that the sample rate of the clips matches the sample rate in that settings box (44.1khz vs 48khz)

try borrowing or using a Firewire drive and try to capture and play media off it…if media plays fine off the firewire drive then you’ll know there is something funky going on with your main video drive

My first thought is that you really don’t need to send the file to AfterEffects…you need to look at the help menu or Avid DVD manual and follow the steps involving metatracks and exporting the video directly into sorenson squeeze

  • I do not know of a way to do this in avid…you could try to export the frame to AfterEffects and try to render it in different ways, (upper field, lower field, single field) and see if it can make a still of the good field

Feather, Feather, Feather is the best advice I can give you…I have used it to make some good effects but AfterEffects mask tool is the optimum way to go

Seems to me that you are batch digitizing your sequence rather than the 40 minute clip…that would create new clips with the new.01 label…otherwise you should just highlight the clip…batch dig the 40 minute clip (provided you have room on one drive) and your sequence will come back to life…just heads up for future…break that 40 minute clip into smaller clips with overlapping TC(i never dig more than 2-3 min a clip)

    2 things to double check

    1) the resolution you are importing at…if it is low such as 15:1 or such that will do it…I suggest 2:1 or higher

    2) on your timeline, there is a green button on the lower left that sets the quality of the resolution in your timeline in the lower left…make sure it is green and not half yellow/half green or full yellow

Avid has told me that i should partition the drive as avid does not recommend drives over 250gb …. i do not want to pay money for partition software because this drive worked for over a year before i encountered video playback errors on it…but if this is the case..can anyone advise me how to partition, or any other advice?

    thanks
