What kind of files are you importing?
Did you check the RGB vs 601 options?

    2 things to double check

    1) the resolution you are importing at…if it is low such as 15:1 or such that will do it…I suggest 2:1 or higher

    2) on your timeline, there is a green button on the lower left that sets the quality of the resolution in your timeline in the lower left…make sure it is green and not half yellow/half green or full yellow

when avid downgraded their line of products, they added a half and low rez button to try to make up for the clunky RAM play. I bet if you click it to green you will see a better image.
