  • Can I freeze a single field in Avid – and choose which one I want?

I have a splat on one of the fields in a frame and I’d like to fix it by freezing the clean field and duplicating it so both fields on that frame are the same.

I can find the display both fields option but I can’t seem to be able to choose which frame I’m looking at so I can freeze the correct one.

Is this something Avid can do?

    Thanks

    Alex

I do not know of a way to do this in avid…you could try to export the frame to AfterEffects and try to render it in different ways, (upper field, lower field, single field) and see if it can make a still of the good field

Thanks, I hadn’t thought of using AE, i’d still like to know if Avid can do it though…

Matchframe on the bad frame and make a freeze frame using Duplicated Fields. You may get lucky and get the field that’s not messed up duplicated. Then cut it back into your sequence.

The Scratch Removal Tool in Avid is specifically designed to do this. You don’t have te replace the entire field, you can make a selection which you can replace with any other field from any other frame.
