Have you looked at the DVX100? If you don’t need the progressive scan mode, Panasonic put out the DVC80 which is the identical camera without the progressive scan mode. Same controls, same body, same everything. They discontinued it because it was competing with the DVX100, but you can still find them on ebay or from some camera stores. It is the camera I have and I absolutely love it. It tears the GL1 apart in just about every area.

    …just a thought

and how convenient…I am planning on selling mine shortly 🙂

which program is giving you the error message? Is it Premiere or itunes?

Are you importing the music completely through itunes before trying to bring it into premiere?

First off, don’t import mp3 files into Premiere Pro. mp3s are compressed files. You want to bring in the audio raw, or .wav file. You can import the music using itunes. just open up itunes and go into the preferences section. you can tell itunes how to import the audio files (mp3, aiff, wav, etc…) choose .wav and then tell itunes where you want to save the music. After you have done this, import the audio and bring it into premiere pro. does this make sense?

I’m pretty sure that “28 days later” was cut in Final Cut…but I don’t know how much that does for you… 🙂

I’m sure the new Mac Mini’s will run FCP5 without a problem…assuming you are only planning on editing DV. I have to older G4 1.42 mini at home. I have edited a few small jobs on it without any problems. Render times aren’t near as bad as I thought they would be. However, if you plan on editing on the mini, you NEED an external hard drive. The internal drives on the mini only run at 5400 RPM. Get a 7200RPM firewire drive to store all of your video. Another plus with the new mini is that you can put up to 2GB of ram rather than 1 like it’s little brother. But DO NOT buy the ram from Apple. They will rob you. There are postings all over the internet that tell you how to upgrade the ram yourself…while saving a couple hundred bucks.

Now I’m just mad I didn’t hold out for the intel mini. But you know what they say about keeping up with the Joneses…

For some strange reason, this is the case with DV footage. Use the clip or crop video effect and tape 1 pixel off of each side. It works like a charm…

Have you tried watching the footage on an NTSC monitor? The problem you are describing commonly happens with LCD displays, even if the clip has no interlacing problems…

Thanks for the reply. I think that I’ll create a master on DVCPRO NTSC and use a standards converter box to make a PAL master. From there, I will just import the Pal footage and author that way.
