  • That’s good to know as I’m debating buying an imac. I also work on a beefy dual 2.7 G5 at work.

Here is my only concern/question: How does Motion run?

I know that the imacs come with a pretty good graphics card, but is it enough to push motion at acceptable speeds? Let me know…

Any other info/advise in regards to your system would be good…

I agree with the previous posts. The only program in the studio that won’t run on the mini is Motion. I have the entire studio and a mac mini (G4 – 1.42 superdrive). I edit on a beefy dual G5 at work, but I can’t afford one of those for home use. However, I have edited countless projects on the mini without any problems at all on FCP5. I have also authored DVDs with DVD Studio Pro and edited audio with Soundtrack. All of those apps work without a problem on the G4 mini…so I assume that they will run even better with the universal Studio on the Intel minis…

I know that in Premiere Pro when you export a still, you have the choice to export the pixels as square (picture) or as 0.9 (video). It looks like FCP only exports the video dimensioned pixels. This is fine if the picture is going to play back AS VIDEO, but if I just want a still (say to e-mail) It is stretched pretty bad.

I know that I go and tweak and adjust stuff in photoshop, but that’s a hassle seeing as I have to export about 50 stills from this project.

Any way to adjust the FCP settings to that this is taken care of apon export?

I’m also very anxious to see if the preformance is that much different. Please let us know once you have tested it out…

I’m thinking of getting a new mac mini to run FCP5.

    Sorry about all the posts….

I am going to purchase your plug-in today. I converted with your demo and the boss was happy 🙂

One last question…Is a video converted from NTSC to PAL always going to have a black border around the frame? I realize that pal and ntsc are different aspect rations. Is there a setting in the filter that will make the video fill the entire frame?

    I think I solved that problem…

Once I have the PAL QT file, is it easy to burn to PAL DVD using DVD studio pro ?

I’m guessing I just import the file into DVDSP and then select PAL as the standard and burn, right?
