iMac Intel 20″ Dual Core 2.0 screams with FCP 5.1 Universal
I thought I would post this quick note about my new set up. I looked all over the web and found nobody addressing this (probably becasue it is so new).
I wanted a new MAC to run FCP at home and was torn between buying a G5 dual 2.3 or the iMac Intel 20″ Dual Core 2.0. Since I didn’t want to end up in a few years with an outdated processor, I made the plunge for intel.
I do not regret it at all. The machine is a work of art in itself. I was resistent to buying an all in one – the last I bought was a TRS-80. (God I’m old!)but my fears are gone.
If you do not need to add any cards, this machine will work for you. FCP is lightning fast. In some limited tests, the iMac responded better than my dual 2.7 G5 at work (I am a senior editor at a post house).
The only other drawback is no firewire 800. Not a problem for me, but might be for some.
If you have a small budget and want a fast FCP machine. Check this bad boy (or girl)out.
