go ahead and correct me if I’m wrong…but I think you would use a -12 tone when delivering your content on an analog source (i.e. Betacam SP)

I’m not sure why I’m not getting the Insert edit option? I am using a DVCPRO AJ-D455 Deck. In the user manual, it says that the deck is upposed to be able to do assemble and insert edits. I can’t find anything in the menu that needs to be changed…

if you are going to be working with DV, the imac is great! I work on a dual 2.7 G5 at work, but I have a 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo with 2 GB ram at home. It is great! for DV, render times are very impressive. I would, however, recommend upgrading the graphics card to the 256 chip. You will notice much better results if you plan on using motion.

not a bad option…but even if we went that route, we would still need masters.

    thanks for the suggestion.

I was running the entire Final Cut Studio on a G4 mac mini about a year ago. I was very impressed with how it ran. It was no Mac Pro, but if you are willing to wait a while for renders, it’s a great option for learning Final Cut. I was previously running Premiere Pro on a Pentium 4 3.2GHZ PC and the mini was almost as fast.

However, with the new intel chip, I’m sure the new mini really out does the G4 mini. Here is some food for thought. I work on a Dual 2.7 G5 w 6GB ram at work. for home use, I just bought a 20″ imac with a 256MB Gfx card and 2 GB ram and my imac is faster than my work computer. Intel is a good thing.
