Ah-ha! I tried doing that earlier, but I was only looking through the DVD export presets. I just had to create a custom 16×9 SD export. Thanks!

I tried that. I opened up my prefs and clicked the 16×9 aspect ration button in the MPEG-2SD tab of the encoding section. It’s still squeezing it vertically.

Thanks! I’ll give this a try. I’ve never worked with 16:9 footage in motion…

    A little more info…

It’s a video that has a lot of text. Footage is DV. Text came from Photoshop. The video looks okay, but there is a lot of pixilation in and around all of the text.

I have a graphics guy that is supplying them for me. Mostly PSD files, but I am using a few elements from inside FCP using the text generator.

Here is another question…When I’m capturing DV footage, Can I import it as ProRes? I hope that doesn’t sound stupid, I just really haven’t messed with this format at all, but I’ve heard good things about it. The reason I ask is because I created a ProRes timline and dropped some DV footage onto it and I needed to render every clip. I’m not sure if that is just part of it or what…

    Riddle me this…

I already have much of my project cut on a standard NTSC DV timeline. If I create a ProRes sequence, can I copy and paste my assets from the original timeline? If I do this, will my graphics now be adjusted with the ProRes treatment?

Try duplicating the video layer and lay it on the track on top of itself. Apply a Gaussian blur to the top track and drop the opacity. Try a couple of different blend modes.

well, I actually need 6 to finish the project. There is some keying i need to do, and I got the Boris FX package for FCP6. It isn’t compatible with 5, and I need some of the chroma key/choke filters…
