Side note: the AppsData directory listed in the paths in the Media pane is a hidden directory, Like Vince mentioned sometimes you have to move it elsewhere. I have a second disk which I keep housekeeping data, preview files and other esoteric files on, so they are off the Apps drive.

It could be, where are you storing the cache files and cache database? usually the location is listed under “Edit/Preferences/Media” in a “Common” directory used by other Adobe Apps, maybe the directory doesn’t exist and its dumping them somewhere else.

You can try recreating the PluginCache file: hold down the Shift key while you start Ppro, and then release the Shift key when the welcome window appears.

Using a camcorder with pass-through to digitize is basically the same as digitizing through a Intensity Pro, in both cases you end up with video you can edit in a computer, to use the Intensity you should use a Time Base Corrector or a pro VHS/SVHS playback deck that has a TBC built in, Pro TBCs can be expensive, you can also use cheaper devices like a Sima CT2 GoDVD, or a Sima SCC color corrector, both will restore sync, problem is these aren’t sold on the open market anymore except for auction sites like Ebay or you can use a DV camcorder with pass-through like Margus mentioned -

The higher the bitrate usually the higher the quality you have to work with, here is a link to one of Adobe’s primers on compression, it might give some insight.

The reset doesn’t generate a message, just check any settings you made in preferences and the project to make sure they’re ok. only have to do it one time and reseting the computer wouldn’t do anything and could cause harm as it would be a non-standard shutdown, you only use a computer reset if the machine is stuck and wouldn’t respond.

One of the problems is that you are starting with very highly compressed video, the lower the bitrate the more compressed it is, the more the images are stepped on and more artifacts are generated, if you want to make a decent blu-ray you need to use one of the higher bitrate modes like 17Mbps or 24Mbps, mem cards are inexpensive

One thing to do is to look in the Device Manager under “Sound, video, and game controllers” and make sure there is nothing yellowed out, also you can try to rebuild the Plug-in Cache file in Ppro, just hold down the shift key when starting Ppro and keep holding till the welcome screen where you select projects appears. check any custom settings after reseting.

What version of Ppro are you using? CS3?
