LCD monitors don’t burn-in like a CRT where constant projection of the same image can damage the phosphors, they can develop a condition called “image persistence” where the pixel xtals develop memory, any persistant image usually can be removed by simply putting a pure white image on the display for a while to reset the xtals or use screen saver so an image isn’t constantly protrayed will prevent “image persistence”.

A pair of 512MB PC6400 is under 20$ and a pair of 1Gig is about $25 so its not too expensive either way.

The DSC-W50 has two movie modes, mpeg fine(640×480,30fps), mpeg standard(640×480,16fps), You might want to adjust a custom preset to reflect this.

Do you have a card reader? if so plug the CF into it, the computer will recognize it as a drive, open Win explorer, look for the removable drive, right click on it and select format

Project files can grow very fast, and resources disappear, ver2 had some problems with memory release, I’d max out the memory to 3gigs it would almost double the ammount of memory Ppro2 would have available and monitor memory usage with the task manager and when it get low, save and reload Ppro, it will free up stuck memory and reduce the chances of a crash.
Ppro2 also works with wav(pcm) files better than other compressed formats -
You might try a trail version of Cineform Neoscene and see if it works, I recently helped a friend who has a EOS install it to use as a intermediate codec with it’s MOVs, I don’t know if its the same compressed format.

I would try to get together with the techies from the CCTV manuf to find out what their specs are and what kind of AVI they are converting to, some of these places use strange frame sizes and scan rates.

Did you run g-spot on the avi it converted to to see what you got as the end product
