You need to hire somwone locally like a consultant or techie to look at your system. -
A rug may give too much texture as per Alan, you could use a continous sheet of green muslin drapped down the wall and out into the room, this will eliminate the join where the wall meets the floor, or if painting the wall you can round the joint between the wall and floor with Mud(drywall spackle) to eliminate it before painting the floor and wall.

With what operating system? XPS what? you need to give the specs, what version of Ppro? What version of the Matrox drivers?

Most NLEs will edit either format, you can make a PAL SD DVD from HD, you just need to convert it, authoring programs like Tmpge will do decent standards convertion https://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/

Footage shot in HD is always a bit richer when down converted, even if its a camcorder downconvert as you have more content to play with, Ppro with its High Quality setting is decent, better down converts using a program called Tempge https://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/ another way is to use a freeware program called Virtual Dub, there is info on the net about using it.
Also shooting in HD gives you the advantage of having HD archive files for later use, you can store alot of video on a Terabyte drive for under a $100 -
Most consumer HD camcorders that have HDMI outputs can be captured live by the Intensity Pro’s HDMI input without recording unless the camcorder has a battery timeout then it needs to be connected to the mains to record live without recording to media, or use a camcorders component out to the Int Pro’s component in if no HDMI

I’ve given SD NTSC DVDs to people in Pal land and none had any problem playing back on their Pal DVD players to Pal TVs

It is 1440×1080, HD anamorphic means that the pixel aspect ratio is 1.33 which means the pixel is longer than high compared to a square pixel, if viewed on something that expects square pixels the video will appear squished vertically, what are you trying to view the video file on?
