that happens on a number of objects when they are made editable, just use the Point or Polygon Tool and then do a Functions/Optimize.

no experience with the technique but it looks like you can get something like the second link if you add a Sketch Material (which should enable Sketch and Toon in Render/Effects).

    In the S&T material tabs:
    Main – Presets – Pen(Calligraphy)
    Stokes – Enable – checked

In Render Settings/Sketch and Toon tabs:
Lines – check off Contour, in the Contour settings that appear lower down set Mode to Position or Angle
Shading – set Object to Custom Color – default is white that will give a black and white image with nothing but strokes.

That’s only very basic quick set up there are *lots* of settings to change and you just have to play with them to see what you can do.

It would be news to me in xPresso (not that it isn’t possible), maybe in COFFEE?

it sounds like a texture on the Cloner Object set to Flat mapping (you’ll have to resize it up to cover all the clones)

I don’t know of a way to ask about future values. Why do you need to know?

probably caused by antialiasing in the PSD file, don’t know what the solution sill be for sure but you can try using Straight Alpha instead of Premultiplied (or vice versa) if that doesn’t do it you have to make the file differently so the antialiasing doesn’t fade to white (I’d have to post a file rather than describe that so hopefully the change of alpha does it)

it looks like the Spherify with the restriction map works as long as you don’t want to be near the edges. The same definitely goes for a MoGraph Displacement deformer.
