After Effects has an expression function called valueAtTime, which allows you to retrieve the value of any property at any time… for instance position.valueAtTime(10) or position.valueAtTime(time+3.2) etc.

I’m trying to do something in Xpresso to mimic this behaviour, but I’m getting a bit stuck and can’t find loads of documentation. I’ve achieved some success with the memory node and history levels, but can’t seem to use it to retrieve values at times ahead of the current frame.

    Can anyone help?

    Ben.

I don’t know of a way to ask about future values. Why do you need to know?

Lots of reasons really. I use it all the time in After Effects.

Specifically, this time I wanted to write a function that automatically picked up the first and last keyframe of one property and apply an identically shaped curve to different properties – that might have a different interval or duration.

It’s also dead useful for position averaging, anticipation or custom look-ahead type functions…

It would be news to me in xPresso (not that it isn’t possible), maybe in COFFEE?
