you want the Visible Light setting in the light’s General tab not the Volume Caustics

in the Solver Object’s/Details tab set Collision EPS to something lower (near zero)

Collision Use Rest Speed needs to be on in the Solver. But it uses a combo of object speed and Static Friction so there should be some

Some things to make it faster, use Euler up the samples. The disk doesn’t need to be Full collision Box will do. The cork can be done by doing a low poly version and putting that in a HyperNurb (put the Dynamics tag on the object not the HN) or use an invisible low poly version with the tag and a visible High poly version as it’s child.

Or it to look right the center of mass might need to change.

This is not right yet but it runs quicker (the easier to test new settings) and it does stop

try Clothhilde instead. A cheapo example.

You have to keyframe ‘On’ in the surface emitter’s User Data. The simplest way is probably to set the emitter to Shot, set the number of particles you want and only let the emitter be active for one frame.

Randy J had a response to another thread which may have been meant for this one (applies here anyway) – if all your lights are omni lights and they don’t have Falloff you would get only slow changes as the object moves through the line of lights (since all the lights reach to infinite distance, you only see the changes as the object get nearer to the camera and more of the lights are now behind it so the near face gets darker)

Anyway, if you want “the object moves through lights” thing either you need Spotlights (with or without Falloff) or Omni’s with a Falloff applied

do you have a texture (material) on the object with Luminance enabled? – that would make it constantly illuminated

or – is the object outside the the falloff distance of the lights (assuming you’ve set one)?

otherwise can you post the scene?

what is the Projection of the texture? Any scale difference (LengthX, Y)?

  • I think you must have accidently set a keyframe on the Bump property there (is the bump on or not). Just right-click on “Bump” and mouse over Animation (top one) then choose Delete Track in the contextual menu that pops up.

yeah, I didn’t think so… I’d have to see the scene at this point – not that you can put it out there – I’m out of guesses…
